"Beef Up" Your Door Security Hardware

The easiest way for a robber to get into is through the front, back or garage doors. Any competent robber knows that the garage door is ordinarily the easiest means to come in with the back door being next. And the reason is that either of these doors are usually well hidden from the road and neighbors. It is easy for a thief to gain entry into your home by a simple kick or "shoulder slam".

According to the FBI 73% of burglars gain entry into a place of residence is by kicking-in the door. What is it about exterior doors that make them so easy for a thief to gain easy access into a home or office? Take a good look at the door-frame on your front door. The weakest point is the strike plate that holds the lock or deadbolt in place. There is only 3/8 of an inch of softwood shielding the security of your home.

The exterior doors, hinges and security locks are not what makes it easy for break-ins to occur. It is the door-casing (a.k.a. Door-frame or door-jamb) that is the weakest part. Most door-jambs are made from softwood trees like Pine, Spruce and Fir. Softwoods like these just can not withstand the impact of a large solid steel deadbolt latch being shoved against them. This is what happens when a burglar attempts to kick in or shoulder slam a door. In addition, standard door hinges and strike plates on most homes use only 1/2" or 3/4" long screws which do not give much if any reinforcement to the door-frame. You can easily see for yourself by removing one and measuring it.

What do you need to do to make your exterior doors more secure? To make your doors more secure, start by beefing up the hardware in the door casings. The easiest and most effective way is to replace that small, weak strike plate on the door-frame with an extra-long steel door-jamb reinforcement product. Then replace all those short screws with much longer, stronger ones that penetrate deep into the wall studs.

A popular door-jamb fortifying product is the Door Devil Anti-kick Door Security device. Three important and unparalleled features distinguish this product ahead of the competition. Those distinctive and useful features are strength, ease of installation and guarantee. Let's talk about each one of those features:
